Sale of Charles, property of minor Augustus L. Grant

This post is part of an ongoing project to record names of enslaved people of Greene County, Georgia I find in historical records. 

In August 1833, Daniel Grant, guardian of Augustus L. Grant, presented his account to the Greene County court for examination and approval. Among the items recorded was the payment of one dollar to A. Newton, Deputy Sheriff, for announcing the sale of Charles, an enslaved man belonging to Augustus L. Grant’s estate.

Rec’d 4 December 1832 of Daniel Grant, guardian of Augustus L. Grant, orphan, one dollar for the crying the sale of negro Charles belonging to Augustus L. Grant, orphan.
