Kitty and Lucy, property of Augustin Greene

This post is part of an ongoing project to record names of enslaved people of Greene County, Georgia I find in historical records.

Executors’ Sale.

Agreeably to an order of the Court of Ordinary of Greene county, will be sold before the Court House door in the city of Greenesboro, between the usual hours of sale, on the first Tuesday in January next, a negro woman about 40 years of age, named Kitty, and her child, Lucy, aged 3 years and six months, sold as the property of Augustin Greene, late of said county, deceased. Terms made known on the day of sale.

B. F. Greene, Ex’r.
Nancy F. Greene, Extx.
Oct 25, 1856             42

Kitty is likely the same slave mentioned in Augustin Greene’s 1852 will; however, the will does not reference a child named Lucy.
